Windows 10: Microphone not recognizing speech of a different language

I have both the English and Japanese language packs and their voice packages installed. I want to speak in Japanese to the computer, but it thinks I'm speaking English. I have Japanese selected for the speech language, even non-native accents on, but it still thinks I'm speaking English. I don't know how to make it know I'm speaking Japanese.

Speech language pack

Hi, I'm having a similar problem. I can't install new speech language packs.



I went to Settings --> Speech --> Speech language : selected from download list another language like Chinese or Japanese. A popup appears, "Download Speech language?" I select "yes". Underneath the language pack name it says "Downloading language..."
then it ends and displays "Couldn't download. Tap to retry." I tried this many times, on different wireless networks. I tried different language packs. No luck.



Any suggestions? (this is Nokia Lumia 820, I'm in China)

Settings: language and region has been set to China (I also tried US).

Please let Cortana works with Windows display language different from Speech language and Country

I suggest you to follow the below steps to check the language and speech settings in Cortana and you’ll be able to her speech in Italian.

• Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to open settings menu.
• Click on Time and language and select region and language.
  
• Under Language option, check which language is Set as default.
  
• If you find different language, you can change it by clicking on Add a language option.
  
• Select your preferred language (Italian) and click on
  Set as default under Italiano language.
• Now, click on Italian and click on Options.
• Download the language, handwriting and speech packs.
• Now, click on Speech from the Time and language settings menu.
• Check if you are able to select the speech settings to Italian.
• After performing above steps, check if you are able to use Cortana.
