Windows 10: Microphone not working despite being recognized in Windows 10

Hi,

I was using my microphone on a daily basis until yesterday when all on a sudden it stopped working. Only a hiss of noise goes to the receivers who I'm in contact with.

To clarify what I have already tried, in the "Sounds" menu, right device is properly recognized and selected. I have tried different headphones with compatible microphones but same result. I use the headphone/microphone set with 2 separate 3.5 mm jacks.

Going back, I have also tried updating the audio drivers and installed new windows updates but it's still the same.
Now, I am absolutely clueless about what might have been the issue that has suddenly stopped my microphone working.
I am really looking for swift responses as I really need my microphone to work specially in the current circumstances as everything is dependent on virtual communications.

I have already tried this, and this does not work because my microphone is not being detected as a device at all.

Snowball Microphone recognized but not working

I recently acquired a blue snowball ice microphone and despite it being recognized, it won't pick up any sound whatsoever. I'm on windows 10 and I've ensured that the privacy settings aren't preventing it on that front. Additionally, I've uninstalled and
reinstalled the drivers in both audio input/output in the device manager and the sounds and game controllers section. At this point I'm wondering if I have to do a fresh install of Windows 10 considering the issues I've had with microphones.
