Windows 10: Microphone not working in desktop apps

Hi!I have been facing problems with my microphone. It is working well while recording, testing in all UWP apps installed from Microsoft store. But it is not working in any of my browsers including Edge. I have tried Opera, Brave, Chrome. None of them are working with my mic and my location as well. Only Firefox is working well which is a MSIX package. However Firefox Nightly is not working. Its clear that none of the desktop apps are working.I will be happy if I find a solution.Masum

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• Have you installed all the pending Windows updates?

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Troubleshoot Hardware and Devices.

Hardware troubleshooter reviews, diagnose and identifies operational or technical problems within a hardware device.

• Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.
  
• Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: to determine whether the issue is related to microphone, I suggest you to connect the microphone to different computer and also connect the different microphone to your computer, check whether the issue persist
or not.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
