Windows 10: Microphone not working when earphone is plugged in.

I am encountering an issue where, upon connecting my earphones, my microphone becomes non-functional. After investigating, I discovered that the microphone on my earphones is not working. I attempted to disable the earphones’ microphone to utilize my laptop’s built-in microphone. However, I noticed that there is only one microphone device listed in the device manager. When I plug in my earphones, this device functions as the earphone microphone, and when I unplug them, it switches to the laptop’s built-in microphone. Essentially, there appears to be a single device driver responsible for both

Earphones with built-in mic are working but microphone isn't


I have sennheiser mm30i earphones, and they have a built in microphone.
Whenever I plug them in, everything is fine and the sound is good, but when I try to speak in games, Skype, etc, then the microphone isn't working.
I have Realtek HD Audio Drivers installed. I tried playing around with the configuration, but with no success.

I understand you are not able to use the built in microphone when an earplug is plugged in. this issue occurs when the microphone is not configured properly. I suggest you to configure the microphone on the system and check if it helps to resolve the
issue.

Steps:-

1. Right click on the Start icon and select Control Panel.

2. Go to Sound.

3. Under Recording tab click on
Configure.

4. Select and set up microphone

5. Select Desktop Microphone.

6. Check if the issue is resolved.

Earphone mic not being detected

Maybe as a work around you could use a Y spliter. Where you plug in your headphones into it and the other ends will go in your mic and earphone ports on your pc/laptop. Yes i understand they are combo ports but i'm just suggesting this as a workaround till you can find drivers that makes the combo port work correctly.
Here is the cable i was talking about. You don't have to use it but just a suggestion as a workaround and as a last resort.
