  1. Microphone only picking up desktop audio like videos running and nothing else not my voice...

I currently have apple earbuds they work fine for audio and the mic on my laptop running through an audio splitter for my desktop.Right now my desktop does detect a microphone but the only sound that goes through is desktop audio from youtube videos and the like and nothing else. Not my voice, nor background noise around me.I've tried re-installing Realtek Audio drivers but I've only gotten an error code -0001 or something whenever I reach the end of it. I've tried also plugging the splitter on both the front and back of my PC and neither work still. Not sure if this comes down to the splitte

    :)

  2. Microphone only picks up audio from headphones?

I currently have a pair of razer kraken pro v2's which are plugged into my computer via a headphone splitter. My computer detects my headphones just fine (audio working and all), but when it comes to using the microphone it doesn't seem to pick up my voice at all and only picks up audio coming out through the headphones.

(EDIT): My microphone can now pick up my voice, but it still picks up sounds from my computer. Any way to fix this this?

  3. when i try to record a yt video(i only want the audio) with the voice recorder, it's not recording any audio from the video

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

To record audio from a YouTube video using the Voice Recorder app on Windows 10, you need to ensure that the app is set up to capture system audio, not just microphone input. Here are the steps to achieve this:

    1. Enable Stereo Mix:
      • Right-click on the speaker icon in your system tray and select "Open Sound settings."
      • Scroll down and click on "Sound Control Panel" under the "Related Settings" section.
      • In the Sound window, go to the "Recording" tab.
      • Right-click in the window and select "Show Disabled Devices."
      • Find "Stereo Mix," right-click on it, and select "Enable."
      • Set "Stereo Mix" as the default recording device by right-clicking on it and selecting "Set as Default Device."
    2. Configure Voice Recorder:
      • Open the Voice Recorder app from the Start menu.
      • Click the blue microphone button to start recording. With Stereo Mix enabled, the app should now capture all audio playing through your computer, including YouTube videos.
If you encounter any issues with the Voice Recorder app not working correctly, here are some troubleshooting steps:

    1. Update the Voice Recorder App:
      • Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features."
      • Scroll down to "Voice Recorder," click on it, and select "Advanced options."
      • Click "Reset" and then restart your computer. Check for updates in the Microsoft Store and install any available updates for the Voice Recorder app.
    2. Update Audio Drivers:
      • Open "Device Manager" from the Start menu.
      • Expand "Sound, video, and game controllers."
      • Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio) and select "Update driver."
      • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.
    3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
      • Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
      • Select "Recording Audio" and click "Run the troubleshooter." Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve any detected issues.
    4. Check Microphone and App Permissions:
      • Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Microphone."
      • Ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.
      • Scroll down and make sure the Voice Recorder app has permission to access the microphone.
Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

Microphone only picking up desktop audio like videos running and nothing else not my voice...

Microphone picks up audio from PC, not my voice.

    Problem:

I'm trying to talk to my friends using a voice chat app on my pc but it just plays stuff from the game i'm playing or video i'm watching, not my voice.

    Notes:

    New headset ( https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3106293 )

Headset has one pin for both microphone and audio

PC requires separate pins for both microphone and audio

For that reason I've bought an audio splitter

dont know what else to put
