    Microphone permanently quiet and constantly dropping my volume to zero mid-sentence then...


    I've bought an entire new PC to avoid this issue, went through 5 different headset/microphones and have adjusted the exclusive settings, mic audio, driver updates and etc. will no luck whatsoever. My sound in game and such is perfectly fine, but my microphone is just miserable to use since more than half of what I'm saying to friends in a call they either can't hear me due to in game audio or the mic dropping to 0 for several seconds. I have given up at this point of searching through several forums and I hope something can come from this because I don't see any way to fix this issue.

    Hi,

    To better understand your concern about your headset's microphone, we'd like to know the following:

    • If this is isolated to a single or multiple programs.
    • If you have tried other USB ports on your device.
    • If your concern is replicated when your headset is used on another device.

    Windows 10 Game DVR: Microphone is way too quiet

    Hi Kirby, I'm Graeme, an independent adviser here to help.

    If you've already adjusted the volume and boost for your microphone and it's still too quiet, it could be a driver issue.

    I'd recommend reinstalling the microphone drivers through Device Manager. Here are the steps:

    - Press Windows Key+X and choose Device Manager.

    - Find your microphone in the list.

    - Right-click it and choose Update Driver.

    - If that doesn't work, try uninstalling it and then scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.

    If it's still too quiet, test to see if the same problem occurs on another PC if you have one available.

    Microphone Levels Dropping to Zero

    I have looked online and no one has come up with a valid solution for this. I'm using a Logitech G430 USB headset, with all updated drivers. Intermittently, the microphone level will drop to zero and the mic will mute. I have exhausted all my troubleshooting
    options and now need to find new ones.
