Windows 10: Microphone Privacy issue

Since earlier today, my Microphone hasn't been working at all because of my microphone privacy settings, I saw that from the sound page, but whenever I try going to my microphone privacy settings, I get this issue: 'The system detected an overrun of stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application.' and I can't do anything else.I use my laptops built in microphone, it's a lenovo ideapad 330.Thank you for reading through and possibly replying, I hope you can help me fix this issue.

Camera and Microphone Privacy

Hi Moustafa,

This issue occurs due to permission issue, driver issue, license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on the computer or if the app is not updated. To give permission to Camera and Microphone app, you may follow
these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Privacy.
• Look for Camera, make sure that “Let apps use my camera” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your camera as well.
• Go back to Privacy and select Microphone, make sure that “Let apps use my microphone” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your microphone as well.

Privacy Microphone Settings Not Working.

We understand that the Microphone Privacy settings for the Xbox Game Recorder is not working.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed on the PC? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC?
• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

1. Press Windows + R key to open Run command.
2. Type mmsys.cpl and click Ok.
3. Select the Recording tab from the top.
4. Right click on the microphone and select both
   Properties.
5. Click on Listen tab and check the box beside Listen to this device.
6. Click on Apply and OK.

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you to create a new administrator user account and check, refer this article to
create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

Microphone issues

Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
  

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
