Windows 10: microphone randomly doesnt detect any sound but input audio works

basically, one random day i woke up to my computer having reseted some of my games stats, and some sound settings being all over the place. such as my headphones being disabled for no reason, and my google accounts being logged off. i have tried everything from downloading drivers, trying out the front headphone jacks, using the microphone troubleshooter which didnt even detect anything, just told me that my microphone was perfectly ok. I also tried deleting the device then reinserting it, and have tried 2 different headphones + 1 microphone. nothing worked, everything i could find or thought

Microphone Detected but no sound input detected

- My PC has 2 3.5mm microphone jack inputs
- Upon plugging any (tested on other devices) microphones into these jacks, my pc detects that they have been plugged in

- However, when speaking, no sound input is detected

- I have tried ALL options mentioned in this thread Microphone detected but no input sound - Microsoft Community in 2018, the author of which appeared to have the same (unsolved) problem as I.
- Sound input is detected fine from USB microphones

 

My laptop microphone isn't detected as an audio input device when I plug in headphones.

I have been using a pair of bluetooth headphones for the past couple of weeks with my laptop. I use the audio output of the headphones along with my laptop's built in microphone as it is better quality. Today however, windows stopped recognizing my laptop microphone as an audio input while my headphones are connected. I am able to use the microphone whenever the headphones are not connected. My microphone input is listed as "Microphone Array (AMD Audio Device)" and remains listed while the headphones are connected, but produces no sound and is not detected by programs like Sound Recorder.

It was working fine until I attempted to disable "Handsfree Telephony" to stop the audio quality from lowering. After I re-enabled this setting, I ran into the issue.

Please reply to the following questions to get a better understanding on the issue:

• Are you able to use any other microphone on the computer?
  
• Are you able to use the headphones microphone on any other computer?
  

However, you can follow the troubleshooting steps from the article
Fix microphone problems.

Also, you can follow the steps mentioned below to check if the Microphone is disabled:

1. Go to Settings >> Sound.
   
2. Go to Check Input Devices >> Manage Sound Devices.
   
3. Under Input Devices check if the device is Disabled.
   
4. For Eg: You might see Stereo Mix.
   
5. Click on Stereo Mix and click on
   Enable.
   
6. Now, test the Microphone and check if you are able to record audio.
