Windows 10: Microphone sometimes gets very loud and overwhelming static

My microphone has been working fine for the past year up until the other week. It will work fine when I am in any type of voice chat but every so often it will just start freaking out and will get very bad static and very loud when Im talking. It fixes it when I unplug it and plug it back in but this is very annoying to do every 5 minutes. All of my drivers are updated and I am not sure why this would just now start happening.

Loud Static Through Speakers Problem

Im Getting Loud Static Through Speakers When First Starting Up Before Windows Plays The Startup Sound, The Loud Static Stops After The Windows Startup Sound Plays. Seems Like Ive Had This Problem After Overclocking. Specs Are As Listed, Please Help.

 

Static microphone recoding doesn't accept any input - Windows 10

It's an Acer Aspire E5-571P.

Where would the "line in" setting be? There's one audio jack on the laptop, that's it, so that's what it's plugged in to. I don't really know how long this has been going on as I just ended up switching things around. I'm also not sure where the "levels"
setting you're referring to is.

None of the steps in "fix microphone problems" are relevant to the issue I'm having. The microphone is correctly selected as the input device but records a continuous input of heavy static (even with a dead quiet background) and does not seem to pick up
any actual sounds. I just get the same static noise no matter what. Adjusting the microphone volume seems to adjust how loud the static is, but nothing else.
