Windows 10: Microsoft 10 CD driver does not work

I can no longer use Windows 10 Media player to burn CDs. Downloaded 3rd apps such as Ashampoo and EZdrive do not work. I was told by a technician that there is a problem with my CDrom hardware.

I did check for updates on the in the Device Manager and CD rom and when I clicked UPDATE DRIVER, it said that a current driver had been updated .

Should I try what Microsoft suggests next...to Uninstall Driver , turn off computer, then Microsoft will automatically detect no driver and REINSTALL a driver?

Or should I try and download a "Driver Fixer for CD" free download such as WINZIP driver update or try some other download?

It is a 2016 Dell desktop computer.

CD Drive after installing window 10

I would suggest you to install the latest drivers for CD/DVD drive from the manufacturer’s website or can update the drivers by following the steps provided below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “devmgmt.msc”.
• Right click on DVD/CD Roms from the list and select
  properties.
• Under Driver tab click on Update button and follow the prompts to update the driver.

CD/DVD driver is not working

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in responding.

This might have caused due to CD/DVD driver compatibility issues. I suggest you to install the CD/DVD drivers in compatibility mode and then try to set multiple monitor and check if it works for you. This is to check if this is caused due to any driver compatibility
issues.

Refer to the following Windows 8 article to install driver in compatibility mode, the steps for Windows 8.1 applies to Windows 10 as well.

CD/ DVD ROM stopped working with error: driver is migrated on Windows 10

Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

Provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your devices?
• What is the complete error message/ error code of this issue?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system that might have resulted in this issue?

Try few of the troubleshooting steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to check if there is any yellow exclamation point on CD/DVD in Device Manager.

• Press Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand DVD/CD ROM drives, right click on the driver.
• Click on Properties and check the
  device status.

Step 2: If the drive is being detected in Device Manager try the below to update the drivers:

• 
  Right click on Start button and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand DVD/CD ROM drives, right click on the drivers and click on
  Update driver software.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
  

Step 3: If the device is not detected on your computer try to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

• Press Windows key from the keyboard, type
  Troubleshooting and select it.
• Click on view all option on the upper left corner of
  Troubleshooting window.
• Select the Hardware and Device
  options from the list.
• Click Next to run the
  Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.
