Windows 10: Microsoft 365 acct cant LOCATE MY 2 LAPTOP DEVICES.... LOCATION SERVICES DISABLED AND CANT...

i have a microsoft 365 basic account and have 2 devices that cant be located. the first one is a ZenBook UX564EH_Q528EH laptop, version 2009 with windows 11 home on it and i have tried everything ive read in the troubleshooters and microsoft help section to try and enable the location service so my microsoft account can identify it and help me synch my programs, etc... I learned that it has something to do with my homegroup settings blocking the location services, but I cant access my homegroup settings on this machine either! Im trying to get my one drive cloud all synched up and working rig

Location service is greyed out

Sorry for the inconvenience caused for you, I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check If it helps.

Step 1: Steps to turn on the Location settings.

• Login as an administrator.
• Press Windows key, type Location settings and select
  Change location settings.
• Check whether Location for this device is On by clicking on
  Change.
• Also turn on Location as well.

Step 2: And as you are unable to set the service Geolocation service to automatic, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
  

Try to set the service to automatic by following the steps provided in the above post by Praveen Venugopal.

Location disabled in Microsoft account

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answer to the question below:

We would like to suggest that you perform the methods below and check if the issue persist:



To turn the Windows location settings on or off on your PC:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location.
   
2. Do one of the following:
   
   • To control location for the whole device if you’re an administrator on the device, select Change, and then in the Location for this device message, switch the setting to On or Off.
     
   • To control location for just your user account, switch the Allow apps to access your location setting to On or Off. If Location for this device is off appears on the settings page, you won’t be able to turn on the Allow apps to access your location setting for an individual user account. (Note that in previous versions of Windows, this setting was called Location service.)
     

How to control location settings?

Windows location settings give you control over whether Windows features can access your device’s location and which Windows apps can use your device’s location and location history information. To check your location settings, go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location.

To clear location history, either restart your device, or go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location, and under Location history, select Clear. Clearing the location history only clears the history on the device. Apps that accessed the history before it was cleared may have stored it elsewhere. Refer to your apps’ privacy policies for more info.

To clear location history that’s been stored in the cloud and is associated with your Microsoft account, go to account.microsoft.com, and make sure you’re signed in to your account. Select Clear location activity, and then select Clear.

Windows 10 location Service

• Are you using domain network?

Location controls might be turned off or on, and you may be unable to change these settings, if you’re using a device assigned to you by your workplace, or if you’re using a personal device at your workplace. If that’s the case, Some settings are managed
by your organization will appear at the top of the location settings page.

I would suggest you to follow the below path and check if it helps.

• Select the Start icon on your taskbar, and then select Settings > Privacy > Location.

I would suggest you to check if the Geo Location service is enabled and started. If not you have to Enable and start the service. follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type Services.msc In the search box.
• Select Geo Location services.
• Right click on it.
• Go to properties and change start up type to automatic.
