Windows 10: Microsoft 365 personal account locked - customer service states they can't unlock it due to...

Hi,My account had a lot of unsucessful log in attempts over the last month, due to someone trying to gain access to my account. I have had 2fa on my account for a long time anyways. A few days ago, all my Onedrive files were temporarily unavailable. I logged into my account - successfully, as I obviously know my password and authenticated through my 2fa. I saw all of the unsuccessful log in attemps, and removed the email address they had been using to try access the account. I then removed the password option, and set up with the authentication app as well. Everything was then working fine.The

There is no Unlock option in Microsoft Account.

If you've accidentally locked your laptop via your Microsoft account and you're not seeing an "Unlock" option, here are the steps to unlock your device:

1. Physical Access: Go to your locked laptop. You'll need physical access to your laptop to unlock it.
   
2. Login Screen: At the login screen, you'll need to enter the password for the Microsoft account that the laptop is linked to. If you have changed your Microsoft account password recently, ensure you're using the latest one.
   
3. Reset Password: If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it. From the sign-in screen on your laptop, select 'I forgot my password' and follow the prompts. You'll need to verify your identity and then you can enter a new password.
   
4. Two-step Verification: If you have two-step verification activated, you'll need to provide an additional security code which can be sent to your email, phone number or authenticator app.
   

After successfully entering your password (and second verification step if applicable), your laptop should be unlocked.

The lock option from Microsoft account is for temporary scenarios where you've left your device unattended and you want to make sure no one else can access it. Once you unlock it from the device itself, it should be back to normal use.

Unlocking Lumia 900 on AT&T

1. I sent a Nokia Lumia 900 purchased a AT&T store to my family back home in India. It was purchased at full price unlocked – no contract.

• When they tried to use the phone in India, it was locked to AT&T.
• I reached out to AT&T Customer support which said they can provide the unlock code if I sent them the IMEI
• I sent them the IMEI, at which point they said this phone could not be unlocked.
• When I spoke to the supervisor, I got a different story .i.e., the phone needed to be kept locked for 6 months as Nokia had instructed them to do so, and Nokia was refusing to release the unlock codes.
• After several escalations, I was promised an unlock code in 7 days.
• After 21 days and several phone calls, I finally got the unlock code
• The unlock code did not work
• I advised my family to take the phone to the Nokia Service Center in India (Bangalore)
• They tried unlocking the phone . . and said that the code from AT&T/Nokia was wrong.
• I called AT&T and they said that it was Nokia who must have provided the wrong code
• Called Nokia complaints and they said they have no control/responsibility whatsover for the phone and that I should call AT&T.
• The Nokia person refused to share his name, escalate to a supervisor, or prove the address where I can send a complaint to. Basically said Nokia wants nothing to do with Lumia 900 in US . it is an AT&T Issue.

I invested a lot of energy to convince my family away from an iPhone and try a windows phone instead.

With friends (ATT, Nokia ) like these, who needs competition ?
