  1. Microsoft account gone wrong

I bought a new laptop and added it to my existing Microsoft account. Now, when I log onto my old laptop, it is only my new laptop info I see. I can’t find any files on my old laptop.

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Microsoft account gone wrong :(

  3. Changed account details, and it's all gone wrong

    Dear BuggatiBoy9

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    Is your situation as follows:

    1. You have an old Microsoft account, XXXXXX@A.com
    2. You deleted that Microsoft account.
    3. You have created a new Microsoft account, still using the email address XXXXXX@A.com
    4. In the event that you want to log in to the system with this Microsoft account, then You get the error "Unable to connect to the Internet.

In order to help you solve the problem, I need to confirm the following with you:

    • Firstly, I need to confirm with you how you deleted your Microsoft account. Did you use the method in the link? How to close your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support
    • Are you able to log in to your current system?
    • Has your old Microsoft account been deleted in Windows Users?
    • Has your new Microsoft account been added to Windows Accounts?
    • Are you able to sign in to your new Microsoft account from the Microsoft Accounts page? You can click on the link to try to sign in to your new Microsoft account.

If you can currently log in to the system and your old Microsoft account is still in the Windows Users list, I suggest you delete your old Microsoft account first.

    • Hold down win+r and type lusrmgr.msc, enter. Find your old Microsoft account in Microsoft Users and Groups and delete it.

According to the error "0x800704cf", it seems to be network related. You can try the following steps to reset your network first. See how the problem is.

    • Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Centre - Change Adapter Settings, right-click the name of the network you are currently connected to, click Properties, click on "Internet Protocol Version 4", then click Properties, in the dialogue box that pops up, click "Use the following DNS server address", and enter "4.2.2.1" and "4.2.2.2" respectively. "Click OK.
    • Open: Control Panel-Network and Internet-Internet Options-Advanced-Restore Advanced Settings-Apply-OK, Connections-LAN Settings, make sure Auto Detect is ticked and Proxy Server is unchecked, then click OK.
    • Locate: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc to find the hosts file to cut to the desktop (i.e., clear the operation of the host).
    • In the taskbar search box, type "cmd", right-click on the command prompt, choose to run as an administrator, the command prompt window to execute the following command: netsh winsock reset Enter, and then restart the computer.
According to the error "0x89235106", the error may be related to the network or the game licence. You need to perform the following steps to re-register the game after performing the above network related steps. Check the problem manifestation after this.

    • In some cases, re-registering the Store can help fix issues like this. Run Command Prompt as an administrator (Win" logo key + "Q", enter "cmd", select "Run as administrator")and type

      and press Enter.
If the problem is still not solved by the above steps, you can share the recent progress with me in the reply. I will work with you to try other possible solutions to resolve the problem.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to your reply.
