Windows 10: Microsoft Account Page Pops Up When Logging In to PC

Someone recently brought me a laptop. I believe they hadn't really used it in about 6 months. They turn their laptop on. They click on their name to log in, but instead of just letting them put in the password, a Microsoft Account page pops. It's basically the same white box you get when you're online, and you're about to sign in to your Hotmail, Office, or Microsoft account. She logs in, then it lets her onto the computer. I can only assume this happened after an update. She brought it to me to see for myself, and after she logged in, it took her to like first-time setup settings. It was tr

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.
Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Just go back to using a local account:

• When you say, "generic circle above my log-in name" what exactly are you referring to?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Click on Start.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Account.
• Under Accounts, select the option "Your account".
• Under Your picture, click on
  Browse option and you may select the picture of your choice so that it is display on your account sign-in page.

I bought a used laptop running Win 10 Pro. winver reports 1809.
How do I register my PC with my Microsoft account?
But when I'm done, I'd like to use my local account each time to log in.
Please tell me how to do that.
I am very new at Win 10, and need step by step instructions.
