Windows 10: microsoft account sign in won't work on Windows PC

I had a Windows PC in storage for a few years. It is probably a Windows 10 not sure, can't remember.It comes up and shows the correct microsoft account email address on the screen.I entered the password for that account. The PC says it's the wrong password.I logged into that microsoft account using the authenticator. I confirmed the email address the "primary alias" is the same as the one displayed on the PC. I changed my password to a new one on that account.I went to the PC and tried that new password. The PC says it's the wrong password. I confirmed again that the PC is connected on W

Hi Jefferson,
Sign-in PIN works only on a Local Account. When you switch to Microsoft account PIN becomes unavailable. This is a known issue.


Since Windows 10 Technical preview is a testing environment changes are being made based on the feedback we receive. Please wait for the next update from Windows to fix the issue.
Refer the steps mentioned by 'Nathan Roberts (SunkNath)' in the article provided.

Please check to see if it is the mail address you have used to register up to the Feedback service for Windows is the same that is showing in the PC settings.

sign into microsoft account glitch

Hi Micheal,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.
