Windows 10: Microsoft And Non-Microsoft Apps Not Working, Wont Open or Open and Immediately Close.

My settings app opens and immediately closes, I cannot perform most recommended troubleshooting processes with related issues because in order to perform them, the settings app is needed and that is the one app I cannot gain access to. Other apps such as Discord have the same issue: Opens and immediately closes. The last resort solution I have found here is to reset Windows with certain restrictions such as the keeping files option, but I cannot do any of that because I need to access the settings app in order to proceed with the process. Microsoft Apps Not Working, Wont Open or Open and Immediately Close.

A portion of my Microsoft Apps are bugged out Windows Defender, Calculator, Sticky Notes, Calendar, Media Player all either won't open at all or quickly flash on screen like they are opening but immediately close. This does not happen when trying to open things like Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Edge, or Microsoft Store. However, after uninstalling the apps and trying to reinstall them, when I click on Get within the store the page refreshes and nothing happens.

Avast & Malwarebytes scanned, no issues found

Issue began on Windows 10 after a recent update on the 31st, attempted troubleshooting but did not correct so I upgraded to Windows 11, the issue still persists. The quality of life of not having the calculator, Calendar, and sticky notes kind of sucks but not having access to the Windows Defender is the real issue. Thanks for any other steps I can try before backing up and resetting the OS.

 

Microsoft App Store opens up and immediately closes.

I have tried everything you suggested and still cannot get the Microsoft Store app to work on my laptop. It opens for about 2 to 3 seconds and immediately closes. I have reinstalled Windows 10. I have tried going back to an earlier version of Windows
10. I have done multiple resets of the Microsoft Store app. I have rebooted my computer over a dozen times. None of this has helped. When I go into Settings and open Apps & Features, I can see the listing for the Microsoft Store app. It is showing that
the size of this app is 16.0 KB. Does this sound right? I would think an app like this would be much larger. I checked the size of the same app on my desk top computer and it is showing the size of the Microsoft Store app to be 1.6 MB. It looks like the
app is not installed correctly on my lap top. Is there a way to reinstall just the Microsoft Store app? Thanks again for your help.
