Summer is that beautiful season when school's out, the days are long, and hearing "I'm bored" can make any parent or guardian cringe. It's natural to wonder if you now need to be a chef, summer camp counselor, and activities directorâall while balancing work and other responsibilities. We've compiled some ideas and resources to ease the burden of doing it allâand to keep your kids excited and engaged. While this summer may look a bit different than summers of the past, it can still be filled with new adventures and fun for your family.

Microsoft Store locations will offer YouthSpark Summer Camp curriculums this year, all developed by education experts in the field and with input from our local store associates to provide students with tools that matter most and emphasize real-world relevance in a fun and interactive environment. The first-ever philanthropy camp, Create A Difference In Your World, pairs technology with philanthropy, teaching students how to assemble an actionable plan to drive fundraising, volunteering and awareness for a humanitarian goal close to their hearts and community. In addition, students who attend Microsoft Store YouthSpark Summer Camps can program an expressive robot, make movies with 3D and Mixed Reality, and get an early grasp on coding with Minecraft.

Camps, which consist of either one, two or four two-hour sessions, begin in May and run through to the end of August. They are designed for students ages 8 and up, but parents, teachers and siblings are also welcomed to participate.

Microsoft To Support Linux Virtually

Microsoft has announced that they will support customers that run Linux within Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2. Microsoft has also announced that it has made the previously paid Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2, free for download. The upcoming server edition of Windows Vista will have virtualization built in to it.

Microsoft said that it has developed software to simplify the installation of Linux distributions from Red Hat and Novell SuSE to run on Virtual Server 2005 R2 on Windows. In addition, Microsoft will provide technical support [to] customers running Windows and Linux side by side.
