Microsoft apps like photos, mail , video player , edge browser have stopped working. Along with Action center doesn't starts and search bar not responding

My windows version is windows 10 2004.

    Already performed system file check

    1. sfc /scannow and DISM tools

    2. Tried to run system restore but fails with error as it asks for me t o run chkdsk /R. I also performed the requested operation. No error found. But still when i try to restore it brings to same error message.

    3. 3rd party applications are working fine. But my windows default apps mentioned above not working. I doubt that others will likely to fail also.

    4. My windows defender picked up some malware issues. Should i run a boot scan ? will it fix up the issues ?

    5. When I am trying to sign in with my microsoft account it says error - Profile error occurred. Your preferences can not be read. Some features may be unavailable and changes to preferences wont' be saved.

    :)

    Microsoft Edge has stopped woorking

    Hello,

There may be a number of reasons why suddenly Edge would stop working. The first troubleshooting step that we can try is to run the troubleshooter for Windows apps. Check out
this link for more information and download link for the troubleshooter.

If the above step won't work, we also suggest resetting Edge. For this, follow the steps below:

    • Close Microsoft Edge browser.
    • On the Cortana search bar, type Default App settings.
    • Click on Microsoft Edge (the list may not include Edge if your operating system is not on Creators Update.)
    • Under Microsoft Edge, click Advanced options.
    • Click the Reset button and confirm.
    • Restart your PC.
Note: Your PC must be updated to the latest version of Windows for this troubleshooter.

Let us know how it goes.

Adobe Flash Player not working in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10.

    Hi Luca,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern, and we in Community will try to help you in the best possible way we can.

Adobe flash player comes embedded in
Microsoft Edge. You don’t need to install it separately. You can try enabling and Testing it again following the steps provided in the below link.

    https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-10-edge.html

The player gets updated with Windows Updates. I suggest you to login to a Microsoft user account, and try installing all pending updates on the system and restart to check if the issue persists. Further
you can try resetting the Microsoft Edge browser. Refer the steps below to reset Edge.

    Steps:-

    • First of all launch Microsoft Edge Browser.
    • After that click on “More action” option which is visible at top right side of the browser and you will see
      “Settings” option.
    • Under“Settings” scroll down and you will see a button “Choose what to clear” under
      “Clear browsing data” option.
    • Once you click on this option you will see list of feature like
    • Browsing History
    • Cookies and saved website data
    • Cached data and file
    • Download history
    • Form data
    • Password.
You can also set Edge as default program from control panel to check if that helps.

    Steps:-

    • Go to Control Panel from Start.
    • Select Set Default Programs.
    • Click on Microsoft Edge.
    • Select “Set this program as Default Program

Hope the information helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We are here to assist you.

    Regards,

    Guru Kiran
