  1. Microsoft audio dock loses sound why is this not fixed after years of reports

Rodelio P. Microsoft Agent closed a ticket 6 months that was obviously not resolved. All of these audio docks are defective. Mine stops playing audio if I am not constantly playing music and then needs to be reset. Online searches don't show any fix for this over the last 2 years and the Microsoft moderators always want to blame the user setup when a simple Google search shows this is much more wide spread. So not sure why you always come back with the most unhelpful advice. I'm guessing not willing to see if others on the internet are reporting similar issues for literally 2 years!Very frust

  3. Dell Monitors Taking Over Default Audio Every Time I Dock Laptop

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It seems like you're encountering an issue where Dell monitors are taking over as the default audio output when you dock your Lenovo ThinkPad, causing your headset to lose audio functionality. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:

    1. Check Audio Settings:

    • Right-click on the sound icon in the Windows taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
    • Under the "Choose your output device" section, make sure your headset is set as the default audio output device both in the drop-down menu and under "App volume and device preferences."
    2. Monitor Audio Settings:

    • Access your Dell monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu and check if there are any audio-related settings. Ensure that the monitor's built-in speakers or audio output options are turned off or set to a different source.
    3. Update Audio Drivers:

    • Make sure you have the latest audio drivers installed for your Lenovo ThinkPad. Visit Lenovo's official website and download and install any available audio driver updates.
    4. Disable Automatic Audio Device Switching:

    • Windows 10 can sometimes automatically switch audio devices based on what it detects. To disable this feature:
      • Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
      • Scroll down to the "Advanced sound options" link under "Other sound options" and click on it.
      • Under "App volume and device preferences," toggle off "Allow apps to access your audio devices."
    6. Dock Firmware Update:

    • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your docking station. Dell sometimes releases updates that can resolve compatibility issues.
    7. External Sound Card:

    • Consider using an external USB sound card for your headset. This can help bypass any conflicts between the built-in sound devices on your laptop and the monitors.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best regards
