Windows 10: Microsoft basic display driver is not working CODE 31.

I checked the same cable using a different laptop it connects in a jiffy. I bought a external monitor but when i connect it using HDMI it shows cable not connected on the new monitor.Please help me out here. Is there any other way i can connect my monitor to my laptop and please solve the display adapter problem:I have tried all different and various methods to update it but to no avail :Restarted my laptop, Force shutdown and then restart, Updating using the ASUS websiste. Tried all the methodsError shown : This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required

Microsoft Basic Display Adapter not working properly (error code 31)

I've been getting "graphics device driver error code 31", but when i try to update my drivers both on my GPU (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080) and on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter it says the latest drivers are already downloaded. When I then try to choose manually from the computer it fails.

I've tried:

• Updating my GPU drivers
  
• Updating the Microsoft Basic Display Adapters drivers (both manually and automatically)
  
• Checked for updates on Windows Update
  
• Inactivated and re-activated the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
  
• Uninstalling the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and restarting my PC
  

I don't know what else I can do

Help would be greatly appreciated

Hi everyone, thank you for your help in advance.

I have a hp pavilion dm3 laptop, after updating to windows 10 I found the following problems. my computer is running on a 32 bit operating system.

1. Cannot extend monitor to dual monitor.

2. Found code 31 when I look into device manager after expanding "display adapters" - microsoft basic display adapter.

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."

Please help me. Thank you very much.

I have a Dell N5110 15R laptop and i too updated to windows 10 on 8 August. I too have exactly the same problem. Everything running in 32 bit, display 1024*768 instead of 1366*768 and microsoft display driver not working.

This is what it says in "Device Manager":

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."

Same problem. Please resolve.
