Windows 10: MICROSOFT BASIC DISPLAY DRIVER with error code 31 please help.

Hello, On my old DELL XPS L502x, there are two display adapters one is INTEL HD 3000 and the second one is Nvidia Geforce GT 540m and the Nvidia one is not showing. Instead of the nvidia one it is showing MICROSOFT BASIC DISPLAY ADAPTER with the ERROR CODE 31.....I'm worried, please HELP. And my windows version is 8.1 Pro and i've tried installing driver from the official website but my windows version is not compatible i guess....and i've tried everything but nothing helped.

Hi everyone, thank you for your help in advance.

I have a hp pavilion dm3 laptop, after updating to windows 10 I found the following problems. my computer is running on a 32 bit operating system.

1. Cannot extend monitor to dual monitor.

2. Found code 31 when I look into device manager after expanding "display adapters" - microsoft basic display adapter.

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."

Hello, I am having an issue with my desktop computer. In dxdiag the following message is displayed under display 1:

There is a problem with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter device. For more information, search for 'graphics device driver error code 31'

My PC specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 7700x

32GB DDR5 RAM

Nvidia RTX 3070

and my c drive is on an NVMe SSD

I am on the most recent version of Windows 10, 21H2 and my graphics driver is up to date (with the driver from Nvidia).

I tried uninstalling the Microsoft Basic Display adapter driver from the device manager, however after a restart it shows back up with the same error code. I have also tried running the troubleshooter which doesn't help, and I've completely uninstalled all current and previous graphics drivers, and installed the latest driver from Nvidia to no avail.

Not quite sure what to do now.

Lately I’ve been experiencing constant crashes after every 20~ minutes of gaming, at first I thought it was the new Nvidia gpu update then I tried the older versions and i still kept crashing, and I noticed an exclamation mark next to my Microsoft basic display adapter in the device manager, my first question, is this the problem causing my crashes? If so please how do i fix it because every time i try updating the basic adapter i get the 31 error code and the issue still remains
