Windows 10: Microsoft begins adding Windows 10X features to Windows 10

When Microsoft first announced Windows 10X during last year’s Surface event in October, Microsoft positioned the OS as software designed for dual-screen devices, such as its own Surface Neo. Microsoft recently said the plans have changed and Windows 10X would first be coming to single-screen laptops.

In late May, we exclusively reported that Microsoft will add some of the Windows 10X features to Windows 10. Now, it appears that some of the modular operating system’s key features will be coming to your device “sooner rather than later.”

With Windows 10 Build 20185, Microsoft has added a new panel that will let you insert emoji, GIFs, and even clipboard content. The brand new emoji or clipboard panel has several new features and it has been redesigned to offer a better experience.



There’s a new homepage where you can access your most recent used emoji and GIFs. You can also search for your emojis and GIFs, which are a new addition to the emoji panel on Windows 10.

Windows 10’s new panel will let you access symbol and kaomoji. The emoji panel also integrates a feature called “Clipboard history”, which lets you see a list of items that you have copied to the clipboard recently.



This new clipboard history supports text, images, HTML content, and it can be synced across your devices. You can also delete the history of the clipboard or turn off the feature from the Settings.

Currently, Clipboard history stores a maximum of 25 entries and the oldest items will disappear as new ones appear.



Windows 10 takes clipboard and emoji experience to another level with this emoji panel, which is expected to arrive with the next feature update.

Windows 10X features for Windows 10


In addition to the emoji panel, rumours have suggested that faster Windows Updates experience is also coming to Windows 10, which could mean that some updates on Windows 10 will install instantly.

Windows 10 is also expected to get the new Action Center with a focus on productivity and streamlined experience.

At the moment, it’s not yet clear when these features will make their debut on Windows 10.

Microsoft Selects Dolby Audio for Windows 10

it would've been great if microsoft added HEVC decoders, LAV filters along with other codecs with Windows 10, and developing WMP to be better than VLC, KMPlayer and such sorts of media players.

Nevertheless, this is good step for microsoft, by far.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Microsoft testing blue light reduction feature for Windows 10

"Microsoft is slowly revealing new features in its next major update to Windows 10, and it appears blue light reduction feature might be a future addition. The software giant released a new build of Windows 10 testers yesterday with very few visible additions, but Windows enthusiasts have already started picking it apart for clues on new features. Twitter user "Core"has discovered references to a "BlueLightReduction" setting deep within the next major update to Windows 10 (codenamed Redstone 2). It appears to be a setting that will be toggled from the Action Center (notification center) in the operating system.

F.lux has been the most popular option for Windows users looking to reduce blue light in the evenings, but Microsoft's own native toggle will bring this feature to every Windows 10 user. Apple has also integrated a similar feature in iOS 9, but it hasn't announced any plans to bring blue light reduction to Mac OS yet. Microsoft only appears to be testing the feature right now, so there's no guarantee it will ship in the update due early next year. If Microsoft does implement it fully then it will presumably be available on the mobile version of Windows 10, too."
