I hope that someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think it's already there, just inactive.

There's a checkbox for it in the "turn Windows features on or off" area of the Programs and Features control panel.

I keep it available just in case.

  2. Yes, that is correct. Most people would just disable it or just not use it. Edge is set as default on a clean install. I just switch it back to IE. Edge just doesn't cut it for me.

  3. I know it is there but when I upgraded to windows 10
I made a vow that I would never ever use IE11 or any other browser but Edge on any of my systems
Up to now Edge has done everything I have wanted it to.

For Home Users, I believe that is business as usual.
Not sure about the Enterprise users.

There were assumptions, but not factual.
We'll find that out pretty soon.

No. If you go to the site (Microsoft Update Catalog) with Edge then it will tell you have to use IE. It is as simple as that.

If you want something from the catalog then you'll have to use IE but of course once you've downloaded whatever it is you can put it on a USB key or some such thing.

Mostly I use Edge but I think keeping IE installed for this sort of situation is wise even if you don't prefer to use it on a daily basis.

I also have to use IE for WebEx and some airline ticket sites that will not work with Edge so unless you actually want to boycott sites that don't happen to work with your favorite browser it would be sensible to keep it available in the background.

  6. The first time you go there in IE, you will be prompted to install an add on. Without that add on it will not work. Go to manage add ons and you'll see Microsoft update catalog listed. I would think they just need to do the same thing for Edge to work, and likely will fix it at some point. If they want everybody using Edge they will have to.

EDIT: As lxo7 posted, if you go there in Edge it will prompt you to use IE or just redirect you to the Download Center. It looks like you will need IE if they are only located in the update catalog.

Yes there was, it is fixed in build 14332 (but Edge doesn't work for the update catalogue site anyway so it is kind of moot...)
