    Microsoft Compromise Page Received


    Hello:


    A couple of days ago while on my computer it suddenly popped up a page claiming to be from Microsoft informing me to contact Microsoft (866-853-5485) due to a compromise to my laptop. The page stated information from my laptop could be accessed such as any/all personal information and referenced something about pornographic websites (which I do not visit or condone). Their affiliate is CZone Solutions.ca. (800-952-0926).


    There were (so-called) 2,283 intrusions on my laptop which I attributed to the recent FBI warning of networks being compromised. To the tune of $150.00 my laptop was remotely fixed.


    Was/Is this a scam and if so who do I contact concerning this issue. Your response is Greatly Appreciated in Advance.

    Default pages for Microsoft Edge

    I understand that you are trying to set the starting page for the Microsoft Edge of your preferred web pages. We will help you.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps you.

    • Open Microsoft Edge.
    • Click on the ". . ." at the top right corner. Select Settings.
    • Under Open Microsoft Edge with. Select Specific pages.
    • Set the webpages and Save.

    From the description provided, I understand that the Microsoft Account you are using has been compromised which resulted in several security features barring you from making essential changes (including login).

    If you are unable to access your primary account, you can use an alternate account (if you have one) or create a new one at https://signup.live.com

    If it still does not help, follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Sign in to your Microsoft account.
    • Do one of the following:
    A. If you can still sign in to your Microsoft account, you should change your password immediately. This will prevent anyone who knows your password from accessing the account. On the
    Security & privacy page, tap or click Change password and then follow the instructions.

    B. If you can't sign in to your account, your password may have been changed. Tap or click
    Can't access your account? Select I think someone else is using my Microsoft account, tap or click
    Next, and follow the instructions.

    You can also go directly to the
    Reset your password     page, and follow the instructions.

    I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
