Microsoft Defender Antivirus Offline Scan - 12 hours and going

I had a trojan linux backdoor on my computer. The computer detected it, and since it would not compete it's actions while the computer was online, presumably because the file was in use by the trojan, I ran an offline scan. My computer has been stuck, just like in the online state, at cleaning the detected threats. The scan is done, 100%, however below that it simply says Detected threats are being cleared._

I really need some help here. I'm a college student and a music teacher and I really can't have my computer down for a day, let alone multiple. I'll be homeless if this stays this way. Please help.

  2. Microsoft Defender Offline Scan

Restored the Macrium Image and got my Recovery partitions back:

So as expected, I had a bunch of updates to do:

After the updates, I gave Microsoft Defender Offline a try and it worked!

And this just shows that I'm back at the latest version build of 20H2:

This one was my fault and I admit I was the culprit of my own troubles. It was just a coincidence that I used Partition Wizard around the same time the Cumulative Updates were going on from Oct 28th to November 11th and it gave me the suspicion to suspect them being responsible for the Offline scan problem.

I mean who the heck would of ever thought that a Recovery Partition would have anything to do with an Offline Scan in an Online world?

A special thanks to OldNavyGuy for his suggestion that a Windows Recovery Partition being deleted was the problem.

The same thing happened to me...because I deleted the Recovery Partition on one of our systems.

That also broke Reset this PC in Settings > Update & Security > Recovery

I tricked myself into thinking that the space was up for grabs -

    Uh...no -

(Note: MiniTool Partition Wizard calls Disk Management "Disk 0" - "Disk 1")

    Microsoft Defender Offline Scan

I checked the protection status page:

Then I checked the regular update GUI:

The times don't even match up for the latest threat files signatures. According to reports online, supposedly those have to be synchronized for Microsoft Defender Offline scan to even work. Obviously this is a problem or I just have an itch that can't be scratched yet.

You know, Microsoft I got to tell you, our computers are not an experimental project to test your failed code experiments. You idiots are messing with my livelihood and many businesses rely on your platform only to realize you are costing them productivity issues and wonder why they have to write it off in the "loss" column of their ledgers.

I really feel sorry for businesses running Windows 10 and they wake up one day and just recently go to print something only to find none of their printers are recognized by the OS anymore. That is just one example of how productivity is lost because the manager has to figure out how to get 50 computers to reinstall printers or shared printers.

Hours and hours have been lost by businesses just trying to figure out what you are going to screw up next Microsoft.

Keep up the good work and hopefully you collapse your own platform enough that it actually causes losses on your side of the ledger pricks.
