Windows 10: Microsoft Defender Antivirus Update Freezing my computer

Since September 14th, 2023, my computer has been freezing randomly. I've been debugging back and forth on what the issue could be. I ran Dianostics, uninstall drivers, reinstalled drivers. Removed hardware. to pinpoint what my error was.last week, on 10/18/2023. I decided, enough is enough and i clean installed my desktopmachine.Everything was running smoothly, until last night, where My desktop froze again.Time of event was 10/22/11:39pmI checked my event viewer and got this:Log Name: SystemSource: EventLogDate: 10/23/2023 8:20:23 AMEvent ID: 6008Task Categ

Defender AntiVirus

There are 4 options under Defender. Two refer to AntiVirus; AntiVirus Network Inspection Service & AntiVirus Services. Under Startup Type these two are listed as manual and the Status column said Inspection Service is running. When I clicked on the Start
button in Properties, I got an immediate message: "Win.. Def.. Anti.. Serv.. on local comp.. started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

 

Microsoft Defender VS Microsoft Defender Antivirus?

Today, I uninstalled the Microsoft Defender app on my device.

However, in Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Security providers, Microsoft Defender Antivirus is listed as my Antivirus.

When I click on "Open app" for Microsoft Defender Antivirus, it just redirects me to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

1. Is Microsoft Defender Antivirus different from the Microsoft Defender app?

2. Is my device still being protected?

For context, I do not have any third party antivirus programs installed on my device right now,

and I never signed into the Microsoft Defender app with my Microsoft account,

nor do I have a Microsoft 365 subscription.

• Press Windows + R key and type
  
  Services.msc and press Enter.
• Search for the service "Windows Defender".
• Right click on "Windows Defender" and click Properties.
• Click Start button.
• Click Apply and Ok to save changes.
• Restart the computer and check.
