Windows 10: Microsoft Edge Search Engine preferences.

I've tried changing the default search engine used in the address bar from Bing to Google Microsoft Edge 115.0.1901.203 of an AVD session host. When I sign out and back in, Edge warns me that "Microsoft Edge has detected your default search engine setting was changed by an external app or programme and it restored it back to default for you."The change was made within 'Privacy, search and services' settings within Edge, so why does it think the change was made externally? Can this 'Edge change' detection service which seems to be built in be disabled/bypassed because the change isn't being m

You should change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge:

- In Microsoft Edge , go to the website of the search engine you want.

- Select Settings and more > Settings > Advanced.

- Scroll down to Address bar search, and select Change search provider.

- Select your preferred search engine in the list, and then select Set as default

Cortana's Search Engine Preference

Hi Bill,

The default search engine for Cortana cannot be changed because Cortana is powered by Bing upon her release. However, you can easily change the default search engine in Edge by following the steps on this link

Step One: Open Microsoft Edge

Step Two: type in the search engine into the browser address such as (www.google.com)

Step Three: Click on the three dots top right below the x (close button)
