"microsoft enhanced point and print driver" with Okidata Dot Matrix printer share, prints...

Hi,after a windows update earlier this year, sharing an Oki 320 printer forces a "microsoft enhanced point and print driver" to be used on any pc that accesses that share. This driver causes the printing to be either too light to read or too dark if we change the DPI in the printer properties. If I choose the same driver as the PC that the oki is attached to, it ignores it and still uses the "microsoft enhanced point and print driver". Important to note that the printing works fine from the PC that the printer is directly attached to and is using the Okidata driver. Only the shares are having

  2. Okidata c5300 Windows 10 PCL6 Driver Not Printing

Anup, thank you for your reply. While the actions you suggested didn’t fix my problem, I have figured out what I did wrong.

Essentially, I did not see the correct printer driver because I missed clicking on a button to get to the “windows update” print drivers and was only seeing the print drivers included with the basic Windows 10 installation. I figured this out when I uninstalled
the OkiData PCL6 driver intending to reinstall the driver to see if that my fix the problem and in the process realizing I missed a critical “windows update” button on the way. To help out others, below is a list (from the very beginning so be patient) of
the steps necessary to install the print driver.

    1) Open the Control Panel (right click on the Windows start button on the lower left corner and select Control Panel or search for Control Panel in the search text box)

    2) From the Control Panel select Devices and Printers (it may take a little bit to pull this up)

    3) From Devices and Printers select Add a Printer from the menu near the top left hand corner of the window

    4) From the Add a Printer pop up window, after done searching and not finding, your older printer, select “The printer that I want isn’t listed”

    5) For older printers like the OkiData c5300n, select “My printer is a little older. Help me find it.” And click next. For me, Windows found my OkiData printer on the network at this point. I would assume other older printers and/or USB or parallel port
connected printers may also be found at this point. Once you see the printer you want, you can click the Stop button and continue on from there. Note, if yours is a network connected printer, you will need to ensure that all the networking is set up correctly
for your computer to see the printer on the network.

    6) At this point is where I made my mistake. The initial list of OkiData drivers I saw included several dot matrix drivers and the OkiData PCL6 driver. Thinking the process had gone to the Microsoft driver database already, I selected the OkiData PCL6
driver that did not work properly. What I should have done is noticed the button marked “Update Windows” (or something like that, I’m doing this from memory), which will download many more drivers to your computer.

    7) From the new drivers, select OkiData as the manufacturer and select one of the drivers listed for the c5300 printer (I actually installed both the MS PCL driver and the MS PS—Post Script—drivers and installed two printers for my one device, both drivers
have printed correctly, so you may choose the protocol you prefer)

    8) Install the c5300 driver of your choice, follow the instructions, print the text page if you like or test with your own print job, and you are done.

  3. Okidata c5300 Windows 10 PCL6 Driver Not Printing

I have an old Okidata c5300n printer that still functions fine, except, I can't get it to print under windows 10. I have loaded the Windows Update Okidata PCL6 driver. It finds the printer on the network, seems to be able to get all of the information
on the printer (i.e., it has a duplexer, but no additional trays), and generally seems connected. But, when I try to print, nothing prints, the job goes to the queue and disappears like it made it to the printer, the printer even spins up and sounds like
it is ready to print, but nothing. My old computer can still print just fine. Is it possible I need a firmware upgrade because my printer does not support PCL6. I cannot find any other drivers or any support on what is needed. The only information I can
find from Okidata is that the printer is supported under windows 10 with a Windows update driver. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 10 Home Won't Print to Remote Printer

    I have three computers.
Machine 1: Windows 10 pro, has the USB Brother HL-5040 printer
Machine 2: Windows 10 pro, prints OK to the remote printer.
Machine 3: Windows 10 home, Used to print, but not anymore (THIS IS THE PROBLEM).
I’ve tried everything that I can think of, and would appreciate any suggestions.
I did these steps on Machine 3 that did not work.

    1. Remove the printer device.
    2. Add a Printer
    3. The printer that I want isn’t listed
    4. Select a shared printer by name
    5. Browse
    6. Select the displayed Machine 1.
    7. Select the displayed Printer.
    8. Next
    9. Failure “Connect to Printer”.
    10. Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or Hostname
    11. Next
    12. Set Hostname to Machine 2, and set port name.
    13. Detecting TCP/IP Port
    14. Additional Port information required.
    15. Device Type – Standard, Brother Port Server
    16. Next
    17. Detecting the Driver Model
    18. Install The Print Driver
    19. Select Brother and Brother HL-5040
    20. Next
    21. Replace the Current Driver
    22. Printer Name (setting it to HL-5040)
    23. Next
    24. Do not share this printer
    25. Next
    26. You’ve successfully added “HL-5040”
    27. Finish
Printing on Machine 3 puts the document in the print queue, which reports error printing.
Printing from Machine 2 to the printer on Machine 1 works perfectly.
All three machines are in the same HomeGroup. Machine 3 can access the shared files from Machine 1.
