  1. Microsoft Ergnomic Keyboard new model not detected by Microsoft Keyboard Center

When I added my new Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard to my Windows 10 computer, it prompted me to install Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse, even though I already had it installed. I updated that software. However, when I open Microsoft Keyboard, it says I don't have a supported keyboard, even though this keyboard is listed in the supported devices list.On a possibly unrelated note, the new Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard doesn't send the proper USB keycodes for several keys, which makes it incompatible with other USB keyboard hardware, such as several KVM switches.I don't know why you discontinued the

    Microsoft announces 2 new keyboards

    Microsoft announces two new keyboards

REDMOND, Wash. -- July 12, 2005 -- Microsoft Corp. today announced that it will unveil two new hardware devices with innovative, easy-to-use features and sophisticated designs that will make accessing PC entertainment more enjoyable. The devices are an expression of Microsoft’s continuing commitment to enhancing consumers’ digital experiences anywhere.

Microsoft Hardware has developed the first three-in-one control center for a Windows® XP-based Media Center PC with remote, keyboard and mouse capabilities in one sleek device, designed exclusively for the living room. For digital camera owners, Microsoft will also introduce a mouse, keyboard and digital image software suite for everyday use that turns any desktop into a virtual darkroom.

“We create hardware for how and where people use their PC,” said Tom Gibbons, general manager of the Hardware Group at Microsoft. “With this in mind, we designed two new devices to enhance the digital entertainment activities people are now enjoying, such as playing movies on their Media Center and editing digital photos.”

    More Control, Less Complexity

New Microsoft® Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition enables greater interaction and control of a Media Center PC compared with a regular remote. This three-in-one device, the first of its kind, makes it easy to turn up the volume, type a message, or point and click with the fully integrated remote, keyboard and mouse capabilities — all without ever having to leave the couch.

Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition features a sleek design to match the living room, and its compact size enables it to be easily stowed when not in use to help get rid of clutter. With smart features including a Media Center green button and backlit buttons, this device makes using a Media Center PC easier and more fun than ever.

    Cut, Crop, Click

Wireless Optical Desktop 5000 includes a wireless keyboard, mouse and photo-editing software that makes it a snap to access, edit and share digital photos on a PC. The keyboard comes equipped with PhotoCenter, featuring one-touch access to most-used photo-editing functions and Zoom Slider to zoom into and out of photos. The sleek wireless optical mouse is a picture-perfect companion to the keyboard with its new Magnifier tool, which enlarges any section of the screen for easy viewing and editing. With the inclusion of new Digital Image Standard 2006 software, this integrated hardware and software solution delivers all the tools needed to customize photos while reducing the number of editing steps.

    Pricing and Availability:

The new products introduced today will be widely available by September 2005 for the following estimated retail prices:

    • Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition: $104.95
    • Wireless Optical Desktop 5000: $104.95

  3. Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center does not recognize Microsoft Surface Laptop keyboard

    Problem:

    1. I have a brand new Microsoft Surface Laptop, with Windows 10 Pro, which naturally comes with a brand new Microsoft keyboard hardwired to the laptop.
    2. I installed the
      Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center
to reassign some of the keyboard keys.
    3. However, Microsoft's keyboard program does not detect Microsoft's own keyboard!
    Failed solutions:

    1. All the help pages say "update your drivers" or "unplug the USB device and plug it back in." However, this is a laptop keyboard, which is hardwired, not a USB keyboard. It is working fine, so there's no reason why the program should not detect it.
    2. Yes, EVERYTHING is up to date, including ALL Windows Updates and ALL keyboard drivers.
    3. Yes, I tried the troubleshooter.
    4. Yes, I checked
the list of "supported devices" that Microsoft lists here
. But they are all mice, none of them are keyboards.
    5. Screenshots of my steps are below -- Microsoft moderators, please don't dismiss me by saying "run the troubleshooter" or "update your drivers" or "turn it off and on again."
    Questions:

    1. Has anyone actually SEEN the Mouse and Keyboard Center recognize a Windows laptop keyboard? Not a USB external keyboard, the actual physical laptop keyboard?
    2. Does the Mouse and Keyboard Center actually work with laptops? There's no documentation suggesting it shouldn't, especially with Microsoft's own hardware (like the Surface Laptop).
    3. Where is there a list of what keyboards work with the "Mouse and *Keyboard* Center"?
    Screenshots:

    1. "No supported device detected"

Microsoft 5050 Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Not Detected

    Hi,
I have a new Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard 2000 now.
Tried what you suggested with an old keyboard, connected the new one and it's a bit better.
I stll get an error saying the 'MKCHelper.exe' file is missing.
I still can't uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Centre, as it says it is on the PC, but is not listed in the list of software to uninstall.
When I slow the wheel scroll speed down, it works fine, but when I restart the PC I have to do it again, as it speeds up so much I can't control it.
