Windows 10: Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 - Issues with "x" and "enter"

I have Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. Just recently, every time I hit "x" it returns. And every time I hit "enter", it puts an "x" and returns. I tried updating drivers and removing the drivers. I also checked Sticky Keys, to make sure I didn't have anything active. And my question mark doesn't work. My laptop's keyboard works fine, just the 4000. Any suggestions

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search box and press Enter.
• Click on View All in the left navigation pane.
• Click on Hardware and Devices and follow the on-screen prompts for troubleshooting.

If the issue still persists, then download the drivers for the keyboard from the link provided below and install the same and check.

Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Driver...

Hello Michael,

In Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 you don't need any of driver to run. Its just run so quickly and you don't need to install any kind of drivers to run this Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

Still as you already told above that you have installed Drivers then you have to first uninstall Drivers and connect again Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I hope this might help you out.

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 inputs wrong characters

I suggest you to connect the keyboard to a different computer and check if the issue persists.

If the keyboard does not function correctly on another computer, the keyboard maybe defective. If this is the case, and the warranty on the keyboard is still valid, you may exchange the defective keyboard for a new keyboard.

If the keyboard works fine on a different computer, try the methods listed below:

Method 1

Adjust Language settings:

• Open Settings and click on Time and Language.
  
• Choose Region and Language and make sure the language you’re using on your keyboard (the input language) matches the one you’re using on your PC (the display language).
  

Method 2

Update driver manually:

Install the latest drivers from Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and check if
it works.

If the issue persists, you may get in touch with
Microsoft Hardware Support for further assistance.
