Windows 10: Microsoft Excel - Whitelist Safe Websites to Avoid Opening Excel Documents in Protected View

My role requires me to review a variety of financial data. The ERP that my organization employs is an in-browser web service Dynamics 365 Business Central. This means that any time I want to pull a table, list, report etc... the document must first open in "Protected View". One day enough was enough, and I decided to disable this feature all together in Excel. I operated for about a full day before informing my superiors and our IT team of my actions. I was told that disabling this feature posed too much of a risk to our organization, so I enabled the feature once more. But let me tell you,

Excell will not open up password protected excell documents

Hello, I am trying to open up a password protected excel document ( I didn't know it was password protected), I just want to view it. I am able to view it on my iphone, but not on my HD7 which of course has built in mobile office. I am able to view it
on an older blackberry. Why can't I view a Microsoft excel password protected document on a WP7 device. When I view it, there are cells I can enter in, but parts of the document are basically editable. It was designed this way. I am trying to view my companies
P&L. I can open it on an array of devices including an old LifeDrive, I can open it in Office 2010, and no it never asks for a password.

 

How can I stop Excel and Word hanging when trying to open documents in Protected View

I have recently started encountering a problem with my Office 2016 installation on Windows 10 where any attempt to open Word or Excel documents in Protected View cause the application to hang indefinitely before the document is opened.

This happens with documents which I have received by e-mail or downloaded from the Internet.

I can copy these files to a folder and 'Unblock' them by editing the properties, or (as many, many other websites suggest) I could disable Protected View altogether.

However - Protected View is obviously there for a reason, so I'd rather resolve the problem than simply turn off the protection!

Excel on WP7 can not open password protected documents and there is currently no word on when (if ever) it can.
