Windows 10: Microsoft Excel work book turned into note pad text document when I logged on to my...

I have Office 365 student on one of my other computers and don't like it because you have to log on to Microsoft account to use it and I don't use that Acc. much. My daughters had it on this computer for awhile and it's uninstalled now because she has her own computer now and is a student I don't want Office 365 on my computer I have my own version of Office on it Office 365 was removed to the following all proper directions and this computer worked fine for a while. Last week I logged on to my Microsoft Acc. and the Excel Work book turned into note pad text document and I need to know how to change it back with proper steps. Nothing else was effected in that Office program only the Excel Work book. The same Work Book will open fine on my other computer same work book so I know it's not the work book or the computer. So I tried Windows 10 update and went with the update Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems KB4586853 and it did not fix the problem. So I hope some one can tell me how to get in the back door to fix this stupid problem. I also tried the repair option on the Office installation and that did not work either. Also when you right on Desktop and go to NEW Word Document is listed there and Excel Work book is not even listed there so I know it's a windows problem not a Office install problem. It has a word pad picture on what was once a Excel work book picture and when you open it it's all funny characters that you can't even read. Can and Please can someone help me! Mark

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps to resolve XPS document writer issues.

• 
  Right click on empty area on Desktop, click on Create and select New text document.
  
• 
  Open the created text document and type some text (input text as you desire, save and close text file)
  
• 
  Again open the text document, click on File tab and click on Print.
  
• 
  Select the Microsoft XPS writer and click on Print button.
  
• 
  You may select the location to save the file.
