Windows 10: Microsoft Exchange Server vulnerability - Hybrid Servers cant receive Cumulative Update

Hello -


I have been doing Exchange Server updates for the company I work for. The problem I ran into was if the Exchange Server is hybrid it will not install the Cumulative Update 2016 or 2019.





It is seemingly because the Exchange Server does not have the Mailbox role, which is fine. However, does that mean they are not subject to the vulnerability? If they are still subject to it how do we get the update to apply without bricking the current hybrid configuration?

Microsoft Server 2008 with Exchange 2010 installed

All,

I'm looking for a step-by-step/best practices guide on how to install server updates (i.e., window server security and servicing stack updates) on a server that is running Exchange. I'm not looking for a procedure on how to update Exchange, but just the
server 2008 portion.

Is the process simply stopping all the Exchange services first, run the Windows Server 2008 updates, reboot, and then checking to make sure the Exchange services have started?
