Windows 10: Microsoft Family Block Internet Searches and YouTube Videos in Search Bar Windows 10 Bug

Hi,


I spent a lot of time configuring the certain sites I wanted my son to visit. Then I caught him searching almost any site on the web with the search bar in Windows 10. I don't see anywhere within Microsoft Family to block or restrict that content. How can I do this?


The way he does it makes me think there is a bug Windows that allows it. After he does his search in the search bar he finds a link to a YouTube Video that he wants to watch. Then he puts the mouse on the length of time displayed on the video. Then while holding down the windows key he left clicks on the time. Then as long as he holds the windows key he can watch the video. Occasionally the video will still display if he lets go of the Windows key but most of the time if you let go of the Windows Key Edge will pop up and say that he doesn't have access to the site. This happens becuase I have restricted YouTube in my Microsoft Family settings. Can someone from Microsoft look into this bug?

Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Searching my Ip.

Sorry for not explaining it, i looked on youtube about this MTU error and everyone says to search your Ip Adress in the search bar, and then a page comes up where you can change your internet options including MTU.

 

Microsoft Family blocking youtube and google

Kindly also try to use a new InPrivate window and try to visit YouTube and Google again. Follow the steps below:

• Open Edge.
• Click on the three dots icon on the upper-right part of the screen.
• Click New InPrivate window.
