Microsoft family is incredibly easy to break.

Hello. My name is Sebastian. I am a virtual school student, but I have distraction issues. Recently, i discovered, with ANY app that has time that is blocked eg after 30 mins are up, the app is blocked, or between 9 PM and 9 AM it is blocked I can break the ENTIRE system, simply though spam. I don't have a low-end computer, as I play several physics sandboxes and Grand Theft Auto 5. 12 gigabytes of RAM, although my video card and processor are bottlenecking me, currently. Anyways, as long as the app is blocked at ANY point, i can spam it and eventually select it before it's closed by Family Safety again. depending on the app I can either select or close that "ask your parent for time" window, and the app will remain open. And remove literally EVERY single other Family Saftey restriction, except for browsing restrictions on Edge. I'm not sure why this is a possibility, but it is a MASSIVE issue for me. We've had issues like this before, but not one so glaringly obvious. This is more of a PSA to other parents, check it yourself. Some apps that make it ESPECIALLY easy to break are Discord and Blender 3D I am using version 2.79 they are the easiest gateways to break the system.

    :)

    Microsoft Family Screen Time

    Hi Laurel,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

This could happen when the child account fails to sync with the server. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

    • Open
      File Explorer
and navigate to the following location:
    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls

      Note:
The above mentioned directory is hidden, copy and paste the same location on the search bar in the File Explorer to access it.
    • Delete the contents in the
      \\settings
directory of the Parental Controls folder.
    • Reboot the machine to see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, you may want to remove the child account from Microsoft family and add it again.

    • To know how to remove an account from Microsoft Family, refer:

Remove members from your family group
    • To know how to add an account to Microsoft Family, refer:

Add members to your family group

  3. Microsoft Family

    Hi,

It could be because of the settings on the Family and Safety feature or the account you're using is added to a Family. With that being said, we suggest that you check if the account that you are using is a part of the
Family list. To check on it, go to Cortana
    and search for Family Options.

To remove your account to the Family, you may follow the steps below:

    • Use the Adult account to log in using this link.
    • Click on the Family tab.
    • On the account that you want to remove, click More > Remove from family.
    • Then click Remove to confirm.

Let us know how it goes and feel free to get back to us if you need further assistance.

Family Features Blocking Chrome on Adult Account

    Hello,

Best that we could suggest here as an easy fix is to have the Family feature administrator remove your account from the list. Feel free to check out
this link from our support website for steps on how to do so.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
