Windows 10: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 stuck flipping between "Please Wait" and the first file

Hello, I purchased and downloaded MFS2020 on August 18th and at first the download ran smoothly until it got stuck with 27gb left and would continuously crash. After restarting a few times the sim booted into the main menu, i was then able to set up the graphics settings and controls with no issue but when i attempted to start a flight the start button did nothing. When I restarted the app, it returned to the install page but a blue loading bar began which I waited for. After the blue loading bar finished, it returned to the install page and was still stuck. I then uninstalled and reinstalled to which I found the download speed had slowed significantly and would crash every few hundred mb.


I then uninstalled and reinstalled again and the installer now is now stuck rapidly switching between "Please Wait" and "asobo-aircraft-b787-10-0.1.35.fspackage" which is the first file. No progress gets made and the installer eventually crashes and no data or game files are placed in the folders within AppData.


I have tried every solution I could find including:


- reinstalling uninstalled completely and reinstalled using a brand new file directory so that there was no confusion within the system.

- used the repair and reset functions within the app settings page.

- made sure that windows is up to date and I have installed the newest version of the NVIDIA drivers.

- I have checked my timezone.

- I have ran the installer in admin mode along with running the installer with no other applications running and with the installer in full screen mode.

- I have ran the windows troubleshooter for the application.

- I have made sure that windows security allows the application to have unrestricted network access and download capabilities.


Overall I must have uninstalled and reinstalled around 5-6 times and each time there is no change.


I have spent almost 2 days trying to troubleshoot to which I have had no success.

I am very excited about purchasing the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 in the future, but first, I need to know some further details about the PC hardware the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 needs for the best smooth performance.

As far as I know, the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will rely mostly on the CPU and VGA, and will use lots of CPU power and lots of graphics card power

How many CPU cores will be used by the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?

How much megahertz does each CPU core needs to have for the best performance?

Will a GeForce RTX 2070 series graphics card with 8GB Graphics Card Memory be more than enough for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, to play the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on graphics settings on maximum without loosing performance?

If I have the right PC hardware, would it be possible to play the new Microsoft Flight

Simulator 2020 with the Graphics on maximum without loosing performance?

Microsoft Flight Simulator issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

Refer the steps below to uninstall.

• Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
• Open programs and features.
• In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
  Remove.

Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



Reinstall the Flight Simulator.
