    Microsoft Flight Simulator Insert Disc To Validate


    I have the gamepass ultimate subscription and have downloaded MFS. I click on play, the game loads to the 'press any key' screen. At this point It says 'please insert game disc' with two options. continue and quit. I obviously dont have a game disc. I have no other option than to quit. It's been doing this since the game launched. I can't find a way around this.



    I've never changed my PC region to play early, It's still on the same as it was when i set it up. I've stopped and restarted all xbox services aswell as re-installing 'gaming services' I've also done the following:


    - Disabling all firewalls, antiviruses and similar software before installing.

    - Checking that my account has administrative privileges.

    - Resetting the Microsoft Store using wsreset.exe

    - Fixing/cleaning the registry.

    - Restarting the computer several times.

    - Deleting temporary files.

    - Removing Windows Store local cache files.

    - Running Windows Store troubleshooting tool.

    - Toying with the Powershell in order to try to install the downloaded files manually, but they're inside /ProgramFiles/WindowsApps and you cannot touch that folder by any means.

    I'm aware alot of people are having issues with this. I signed upto GPU just to play Flight Simulator, It's closing in on a week without any fix. Hopefully someone can help.

    Known Issues for Game Launches (August 2020)

    Microsoft Flight Simulator

    • Known Issue: Some users seeing a "Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator disc" error when launching the game on Windows 10.
    • Workaround: In order to play the game digitally on Windows 10, you will need to have the Digital Ownership
      File       installed as it is required to grant the necessary permissions to play. If you already have this file installed and are running in to this error, please uninstall and reinstall this file only and this should resolve the issue. There is no need to
      uninstall the entire 127+GB base game files. Uninstalling this small 10MB file is all that will be needed.

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



    I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

    Refer the steps below to uninstall.

    • Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
    • Open programs and features.
    • In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
      Remove.


    Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



    Reinstall the Flight Simulator.



    Please reply to us if the issue still persist.

    Hi Sumit,

    I am experiencing the same issue as Dontask. I get the 'Press any key to start' screen, which I do and the next message to pop up is 'please insert the Microsoft flight simulator game disc'. You can either hit continue, which brings up the same box over
    and over or quit installation.
