Windows 10: Microsoft Flight Simulator stuck at 2.91 GiB in Installation Manager on D drive

Hi everyone, first post.


Right now as I type this thread, I am trying to download Microsoft Flight Simulator and I'm currently in the installation manager. The download status is at 2.91 GiB and I'm downloading the game on to a separate D drive rather than the C drive and there were no errors stating that it couldn't be installed on this drive. There is enough hard drive space available on this drive and I reach the maximum system requirements. The message above the loading bar is showing an animated "Please wait...". The type of separate hard drive I'm using is a Western Digital M.2 type gaming drive installed in a 17.3" laptop. I would rather choose not to download the game on to the C drive as there is not enough space available and they are considered important files, so I cannot delete them to free up space on the C drive.


It has been 11 hours. 11 freaking hours since I started the installation process.

Microsoft Flight Simulator issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

Refer the steps below to uninstall.

• Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
• Open programs and features.
• In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
  Remove.

Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



Reinstall the Flight Simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation cannot choose drive other than C?

When attempting to install the new "Microsoft Flight Simulator", the only drive option is the C: drive, no other drives are listed in the install location selector:





How can I install "Microsoft Flight Simulator" to my D: drive ?

The Store has been working OK in the past with previous purchases for example Forza Horizon 3 are installed on my D: drive and work OK.

Things already tried:

• elevated "wsreset.exe"
• reboot
• toggled settings "where new content is saved" to C: then back to D:
• uninstalled, then re-installed something else (Fallout Shelter), confirmed it installed on D: drive OK.
  
• made sure 1.24TB available on D:

 

Problem installing premium flight simulator to d drive

Have no problem downloading the premium Microsoft flight simulator 2020 from Microsoft store.

My SSD is not large enough so I selected to install to my 1 gigabyte hard drive D:\.

Unfortunately, when I Launch from the pop-up there came up an error indicating that it could not launch as it appeared to want to launch from the c:\program files\ directory but I installed the simulator on my D:\ drive.

Is it possible for the MSFS application to launch and install on my D:\ ?

Or am I forced to re-install Windows to my bigger D:\ drive but changing the drive letter to C:\ ?

Please help me as I did pre-order MSFS premium and paid for it.
