Windows 10: Microsoft folder in Appdata/Local folder is missing - Windows 10

The xbox app keeps pinning itself on my taskbar everytime I want restart my PC, and guides always point me towards a file path that goes through Appdata > Local > Microsoft > Windows, and so on. However, the "Microsoft" folder is nowhere to be found. I have hidden files turned on already, and if I tried to make my own Microsoft folder, my PC finds the folder actually DOES exist, despite it not showing up anywhere. How to access appdata folder

We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

• Write in the search box the following: “%appdata%” .
• After the search is finished left click or tap on the folder that the search feature found.
• If it takes you to the following path: “C:\Users\The user that you are logged in with\AppData\Roaming”.
• It means that your folders are still there but they are hidden.
• Click on “View”.
• Check the box “Hidden items”

Windows folder is growing in size the last few days, unsure why exactly

My AppData folder is 2GB. Is that normal or junk in there? There's about 20+ folders in there, what can/should be removed?

So, that Microsoft KB is not exactly correct. It is omitting an important detail. The path should be
C:\Users\userprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word

In other words, close Word and in file explorer navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache and verify that
Content.Word does not exist. if it does, then delete it and when you start Word again, the folder should be recreated.

By the way, in worst case scenario, you do not need to reinstall Windows to fix this. Microsoft Office is not "baked" into the operating system. It can always be uninstalled and reinstalled.
