    Microsoft has not made 22H2 an automatic install yet. Is that because it is still broken. It will not install for me. fails with: 0xc0000409 I have been retrying this OPTIONAL win 11 update for some months now. I am trying the update only on my not-yet-depended-upon new lap top, but it has failed with various codes, the most recent being 0xc0000409. I have seen some wise suggestions to 'wait' until MS get the update 'fixed'. Is that still the MS COMMUNITY popular response to this upgrade?

    I wish things are that simple. My error code was 0x80246017, and I don't have KB5020435 installed so it's a dead end. BTW, MS lists like 6 or 7 error codes of the format 0x8024xxxx on the "troubleshooting WU problems", and when you chose next step, it suggests generic steps: run WU troubleshooter, check if your disk has no errors, is your remote disk is accessible, etc. Same as MS community; each similar error has completely different cause and (re)solution.
    MS in notorious for this- if it works then OK, if it doesn't then good luck.

    If you can't install it from windows update you can try to install it manually, it's the same KB5015684 obtained with windows update.

    Windows 10 Version 22H2 is coming in October 2022 ---> KB5015684 Provides Quick Windows 10 22H2 Upgrade - Ed Tittel On the Ed Tittel page click on the links DeskModder.de or .MSU x64 version of the upgrade.

    Do dism and sfc /scannow commands before and/or after installing it.

    laptop doesnt boot automatically

    This is what happened.

    1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
    2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
    3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
    4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
    5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
    6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

    I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

    Many thanks to all members who helped to troubleshoot problems.
