  1. Microsoft Help Desk: Support Chat no longer accessible?

A friend of mine is struggling with an issue on their laptop and I went to get the link to Microsoft's Support Chat, where a small window would pop up and you'd wait for someone to connect to you and help you out with the issue. I've gone through the normal links but instead of bringing up the support chat, it now tells you to email them instead.Have they now removed this feature, or is this happening because it's so close to Christmas?

    :)

How to access Microsoft live chat?

    Hello,

I've been trying to access the Microsoft Live Chat for assistance regarding my PC but it does not pop up as a list of available support options. It was working fine when I used it yesterday but now it disappeared as an option? Is there a specific time frame
or something in order to access the live chat?

What Are The Five R's of Microsoft Chat Support?

The Five R's of Microsoft Support:

    • Reboot
    • Restore
    • Remote Access
    • Trying to Reconnect, because they disconnected from the chat.
    • Refuse anymore "assistance" because you won't Restore or give them Remote Access.

Rebooting just sends you back into the queue when you realize it has made no difference. Restoring is a way them to avoid actually doing any work. Remote Access should not be provided to people who have not demonstrated a basic understanding of the issue.

Guaranteed 90% of people who connect to Microsoft Chat Support encounter at least one of the four, probably 2-3 in all likelihood.
