Transfer Office Pro 2016 HUP license to new PC?

I'm having some issues transferring my Office 2016 Pro license to my new computer from the Home Use Program.

I've been reading that this transfer should be as easy as uninstalling on the old PC, reinstalling on the new one, and then activating the product through the Microsoft account used to purchase the product. This process was unsuccessful.

Only problem is that the HUP doesn't work this way. The only information we can get on the purchase is made from putting my email into the HUP home page and getting an email with a link to my order history. I don't have a microsoft account associated with
this, because it's just done through the work email. The HUP doesn't work through Microsoft accounts, correct?

Anyways, I'd love some help figuring this out. I don't understand how to activate a product using a Microsoft account when the HUP doesn't use Microsoft accounts for this purpose the same way normal purchases do.

If your employer has a volume license for Office, and participates in the HUP, ask someone in your IT department to give you the company's code for the HUP. Then go online to the HUP website and do the deed.

HUP is the best deal, money-wise, but your copy of Office won't get updated with new features the way it would if you had an Office 365 subscription and you won't have access to the other Office 365 goodies.
