Windows 10: Microsoft IME bug when installing foreign language. unable to switch languages other than...

I have a problem with Microsoft IME.



Whenever I install a foreign language japanese, chinese, korean my language bar disappears. I cannot switch languages using the shortcut

L-ALT + L-SHIFT. The language bar only shows up after I terminate Microsoft IME in the task manager, however I cannot select the installed foreign language of course. The language bar does show the language, but upon using shortcut keybinds it will simply skip it.


Anyone know a solution for this? This is getting very annoying to deal with. Thanks!

Unable to switch languages after update

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand how frustrating it could be when the features are not working properly. Please reply to the following questions to help you further.

• How many languages are installed on the computer currently?
  
• What happens when you try to switch between the languages?
  
• Which edition of Windows 10 is installed on the computer?
  

I suggest you to remove the other languages installed on the computer except English, and install the languages again. Please follow the steps mentioned to remove the languages:

1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open Settings.
   
2. Click on Time & Language.
   
3. Click on Region & language.
   
4. Under Windows display language, select
   English from the dropdown list.
   
5. Now, under preferred languages make sure that
   English language is at the top. If you don’t see English language on top click on the English language and click on the up arrow to move the language at top.
   
6. Now, remove the other languages installed on the computer.

Foreign Language Keyboards

Hi Louis,



Welcome to Microsoft Community.



I appreciate your interest on windows 10.



Yes keyboard will be available in windows 10 for foreign languages.



I would suggest you to follow the link:

Note: The steps in the above link are meant for windows 8, however, you can use the same for windows 10 as well.

1. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
   
2. Have you tried installing any other language?
   

The issue might be that the language pack features are not installed properly. We can try uninstalling and then installing the language pack again and check if that helps.



Follow the steps mentioned below to remove the language pack.

1. Go to Settings > Time & Language >
   Region & Language.
   
2. Click on Chinese
   and Click on Remove.
   

After removing the language pack, refer the article to
Add and switch input and display language preferences in Windows 10.
