Microsoft is adding more scrolling features to Chromium on Windows 10

Microsoft has already confirmed that it is working on making Chromium-based browsers (Edge and Chrome) work smoother on Windows 10. Microsoft has planned multiple improvements for Chromium browser, including a new feature that would help out with performance problems, especially on low-end hardware.

Microsoft is also working on providing smoother scrolling experience for Chromium browsers such as Chrome, as detailed at Build 2019 developer conference. Smooth scrolling project could improve Chrome in multiple ways.

The software giant has already detailed how it intends to improve scrolling using the scrollbar and make it smoother even there’s a lot of activity happening on the page.

In a forum post published on May 14, Microsoft said it has started prototyping the ‘continuous-scrolling’. This is part of the smooth scrolling feature and this will allow the browser to execute scrolling smoothly when you click and hold the scrollbar arrow.

“More functionality (+a couple of bug fixes) has been added. Scrollbar thumb drag on the compositor thread is now supported (landed last week),” a Microsoft Edge engineer noted. “We’re continuing to add more functionality. Continuous-scrolling (for when you click and hold the scrollbar arrow) is currently being prototyped,” he continued.

As of June 6, the continuous scrolling has been marked as ‘active’ and users can enable it in Canary by turning on the following flag:

    • Compositor threaded scrollbar scrolling.

Although it appears to be a small change, it could still improve the overall browsing experience in Chrome, Edge and other browsers.

  2. Microsoft Selects Dolby Audio for Windows 10

it would've been great if microsoft added HEVC decoders, LAV filters along with other codecs with Windows 10, and developing WMP to be better than VLC, KMPlayer and such sorts of media players.

Nevertheless, this is good step for microsoft, by far.

    how to uninstall chromium

    Hi Scott,

Chromium is the open-source web browser project from which Google Chrome draws its source code. The browsers share the majority of code and features, though there are some minor differences in features and they have different licensing.

I appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • Do you get any error while you try to uninstall the chromium browser?

    • How did you install the chromium browser? Is it through Windows store/third party website/any other source?

    • Does the issue persist only while you try to uninstall the chromium browser/ any other programs?
You may follow the below suggestions and check if you are able to uninstall the chromium browser.

Follow the below steps if you have installed the chromium browser through the setup file or through the other source.

    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard, and select
      Programs and features.

    • Here you will be able to see the list of programs installed in your computer.

    • Right click on the program which you would like to uninstall and click
      Uninstall.
If you have downloaded the chromium browser through the Windows store, open the Start menu, type chromium in the search bar, right click on the chromium browser from the search bar results and click on uninstall.
