Windows 10: Microsoft Keyboard 850 with Apple MacBook Pro and Win10 Parallels

I use Windows 10 on a 2016 MacBook Pro with Parallels. When I use Office 365 applications, I'd like to use a Windows keyboard. I own a Microsoft Keyboard 850, which comes with a dongle that plugs into a USB port. My laptop has Bluetooth, and I use an Apple wireless keyboard. The Apple keyboard does not require a dongle. I figure the Microsoft dongle allows one to use the keyboard with a machine that does not have Bluetooth, but looks like I'm wrong. My Win10 is asking me to connect a device before it can install the software.


So ... can someone confirm that I MUST use the dongle when I'm using this keyboard? If the answer is yes, can someone recommend a Windows keyboard that does not require a dongle.


Why do I ask? My MacBook has four USB-C ports and no USB ports. To use the dongle, I'll have to purchase a USB-C to USB adapter. I'd really rather not have to lay out $20 for the adapter. The adapter costs almost as much as the keyboard!

Windows 10 Pro on Apple MacBook Pro

I installed a purchased (from Microsoft) copy of Windows 10 Pro on a new Apple MacBook Pro using Apple's Boot Camp Utility. Windows 10 Pro works perfectly on its partition, except there is no sound. Apple Support was sympathetic but referred me to Microsoft
Support. Microsoft support (in Manila) refused to even speak to me once I told them it was installed on an Apple machine. But, regardless of which vendor's hardware it is on, it is a Microsoft product and, looking into it further, it seems many Windows 10
users have a similar problem with no sound.

Any new ideas?

And, if Microsoft Support is monitoring this community, may I suggest that you not be so contemptuous of your customers.

 

Transfer purchased Windows 10 Pro with Parallels Desktop to a new MacBook

Hi,

I am currently transferring my programs to a new MacBook Pro. The transfer of my Parallels desktop license went seamless as it automatically transferred the license from the old macbook to the new one.
Now I am stuck with the Windows Pro license on my old MacBook Pro. I can no longer access it (parallels was transferred) and Windows 10 Pro installation on my new macbook is telling me that the license is already in use (which is correct on my old MacBook
Pro).

Can you help me in transferring or resetting the Windows 10 Pro license to my new MacBook Pro ("how to" by cancelling the previous installation)? I don't want to be purchasing a new
windows 10 Pro license while having a valid license available on my old MacBook Pro which will be wiped clean and reset as a new Macbook
