Windows 10: Microsoft Licensing questions on server standard edition 2016

if I have 1 single 16 core processor server running standard edition 2016 and I want to add 2 virtual machines in hyper v both running server standard edition 2016, do I need to purchase 3 licenses in total?

License for Windows server 2016 Standard

Hi, I have question related with Windows Server 2016 Standard.

I have A server, It's hardware is 2 xeon and memory 64 GB. I want to install it with Windows Server 2016 Standard edition.

And I want to use Hyper-V and install 4 Hyper-V (Windows too). I read that it's not possible. Because Windows Server 2016 standard is only allow 2 hyper-V + 1 main server.

Is it possible I add 2 more license for hyper-V, so I will have 4 Hyper-V VM ?

or is it possible if I run 2 Hyper-V VM (windows server) with additional 2 VM (Linux) ?

Downgrade of Microsoft SQL server standard to SQL server standard

Am running SQL server standard edition 2016 on my ERP production environment.

I would like to get a redundant high availability server and the license am getting since we are a not for profit org is as shown below.

1. SQLSvrStd 2019 SNGL OLP NL Chrty, SQLCAL 2019 SNGL OLP NL Chrty UsrCAL

Will these (bullet 1. ) work for my mirror server? or can it be converted/downgraded to 2016 sql server standard.

Windows Server 2016 Standard - 4 Virtual Processors - Licensing??

Hi All,

This might be a very stupid question but I wanted to confirm with you all. We have a Microsoft Environment with 3 Physical servers clustered running Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter - Hyper-V roles (No, servers are not serving any other roles or services).
I created two Windows Server 2016 Standard VMs on the two Hyper-v hosts. Since I do not understand the new licensing model from Microsoft very clearly, Do I need to purchase any licenses for the new Windows Server 2016 VMs? Since all the Hyper-V hosts are
running 2012 R2 datacenter, shouldn't I be able to activate the 2016 VMs against the 2012 R2 hosts? If I need to buy the licenses for Windows Server 2016 VM, then how many should I have to purchase?
