Windows 10: Microsoft Lifecam Windows 10 Compatibility

Good Day:


My system is as below:


Dell Optiplex 3050

i5-7500 340GHz x64

16Gb RAM

Windows 10 Pro 16Gb RAM

Completely standard


I've upgraded to Windows 10 and my Lifecam Cinema 1393 is not even recognized when I plug it in and I don't need to be purchasing a new cam just yet.


Why is the camera not recognized through USB and how can I fix it?

There's no option to Add Legacy Hardware or any Imaging Device shown Device Manager.

Scanned for Hardware changes and ran the wizards, It's just not seen. I have also tried every USB port and it is recognized by other PCs and works fine.


Latest software Lifecam 3.6 & 3.2 do not install and the link below clearly states that Lifecam Cinema does not require any additional software for Win 10.

I've tried running them in Win7 compatibility mode but get the same message "Lifecam can't run on Windows".


The main issue is the fact that it is not recognized.

Is LifeCam HD-3000 compatible with Windows 10?

Currently LifeCam HD-3000 does not have driver update compatible with Windows 10 operating system. However, you can install the drivers of Windows 7 of the device and run the same in
Compatibility mode on the computer.

There are two ways to install the device drivers in
Compatibility mode. Follow the steps below to install the device drivers in
Compatibility mode.



Step 1: Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.

• Locate and right-click on the driver setup file on your PC and click on
  Properties.
• Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 8.1/7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done,
  restart the computer for the effective changes to take place.

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
• Select the top most search result and follow from step 2 from the article
  Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows
  (Also applies to Windows 10).
• Check if the changes are effective.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 not recognized by computer as a camera.

I realize that you are facing issues with the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000
. I will certainly assist you.

I suggest you to reinstall the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 software in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
• Select “Compatibility” tab.
• Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select
  previous the version of Windows (Windows 8) from the drop down list.

Let the software setup file install and then check the functionality

Microsoft LifeCam 3.5 on Windows 10

It turns out Microsoft LifeCam is compatible with
Windows 7, Vista and XP. For additional information, kindly check the latest driver version of
Microsoft LifeCam 3.6 on this link for
Windows 7, Vista and XP. To make it work in Windows 10, you may need to manually update the downloaded 3.6 driver of
Microsoft LifeCam from the Device Manager. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type Device Manager and then hit Enter.
  
  Note:Kindly use the administrator access to make any changes on your computer.
• Find the left arrow key beside Imaging devices.
• Click Microsoft LifeCam Cinema driver.
• Right-click and then select Properties.
• Click Update Driver > OK.
• Reboot your computer to apply the changes.
