Microsoft Lumia 550, 750 and 850 specs leak

    Hi there

Specs are fine -- Bit Oh Dear --the Handsets themselves just look HIDEOUS -- something like the old "Brutalist" Eastern Bloc Architecture of the Cold War period.

C'mon Ms -- employ some of those great Italian designers of possibly "alternative lifestyle types" to get on the case and produce some stunning looking hardware.

The OS is FINE (Windows 10 Phone is a decent OS IMO streets ahead of Android) -- but I'm not about to ditch an iPhone / Samsung or even a sleek HTC model for one of those Lumia "Clunkers" even if the hardware spec is fine. People want more than just a "Functional" piece of kit these days --especially if they are buying it not on a contract so will be paying a few hundred bucks for the thing in the first place.

    Cheers
    jimbo.

I had a Lumia 920 that literally went to sleep with the fishes and was replaced by Lumia 1020. In my view, they look just fine with their minimalist, no frills and functional designs. The GUI is a bonus for people with reading glasses, one of the reasons why I picked Windows phone years ego. There might be two or three apps on my Lumia that were installed, don't really have the need for others, available or not.

Despite this, the next time my phone goes to sleep with the fishes, it'll be replaced by an iPhone. I don't like Windows 10 phone integration with the cloud and don't need a personal assistant...

    True, but...
Prior to the Windows phone I had an iPhone and at that time, it didn't have Siri. The iPhone did have iCloud that was simply to disable during setting up the phone, the same is probably true for Siri. And yes, msCloud can be disabled as well, but to my recollection not during setup...

Syncing my Outlook contacts/calendar on the desktop to the iPhone via USB port is something that I've missed since I have the Windows phone. Yes, I am aware that syncing can be done between the Windows phone/desktop via the msCloud, but don't want to use cloud services...

I would think most engineers would've learned the principle of form follows function, but I guess not. *Wink

The function of a machine/device, building, or any structure is far more important than its form.

I hardly doubt that MS is going to round corners on their phones to such an extent as to compete with the overpriced pieces of costume jewelry and it's copycat competitor with Android. They should stick to their own unique design to set them apart.

It looks like MS has decided that the 5 inch screen is going to be the one that sells. These are all in the phablet class. I'd imagine looking at the hardware specs these would be middle range in price.

I'm very happy with my Lumia 1520 and hoping they would develop an 8 inch screen, but I be looking at one of these.

BTW, they have many models to choose from. One needs to keep scrolling down on this page to fill it. They eventually appear in groups.

Microsoft Lumia 550, 750 and 850 specs leak

    Hi there

Careful though with some of these when you want 4G -- remember there's all sorts of LTE bits -- so ensure the 4G you want is supported by the phone.

There's 4G and 4G !!! and the telcos love confusing their customers so they get duped into buying services that aren't actually available in their area and won't be for ages -- Look at LTE A for example.

    Cheers

    Thanks, Shawn. *Smile

This is more of their higher end with more HP, higher rez camera, features, and larger screens in the phablet category again. And, of course, with Windows 10. Nice phones.
