    Microsoft mail disaster!!

HELP! I decided yesterday to have a cleanup of my webmail as there were emails from years ago. I use Microsoft mail and had downloaded all my emails so thought it was safe to delete them from my webmail as they I Thought were now on my computer or with Microsoft.

Imagine my horror when I went to open MM today to find no messages older than the time I logged out of my webmail.

I also can't search and find older emails that used to be online.

    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!@!

Are my emails somewhere in the ether or have I just lost everything from the time I started using MM in 2017, that includes contacts!

    :)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Microsoft mail disaster!! :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hey Shawn,
I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
    Go figure!

    Microsoft Mail

    Hello AnneGuelker,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I would suggest you with few simple troubleshooting steps. Kindly follow the below.

    1. May I know how many accounts are configured in the Mail App?

Method 1: Try to run the PowerShell command and check if it helps.

    • Open the Task manager (Press
      CTRL+Shift+ESC).
    • Click File > Run New Task.
    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”.
    • Type PowerShell.
    • Type the following in the PowerShell prompt:
    $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml’; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest

    • Close the PowerShell window
    • Reboot the computer.

-> Also check the junk mail to see if there are any emails.

    Hope it helps.
