Microsoft maybe working on a new light theme for Windows 10

Microsoft is working on some personalization improvements for Windows 10 and it will be implemented in the OS with Spring 2019 update. Windows 10 is reportedly going to come with new customization options that would allow you to change the colour of the taskbar to white.

According to watcher Albatross, Microsoft plans to update the customization settings in Windows 10 to allow users to change the look and feel of the elements such as taskbar.

The ability to customize elements like taskbar would be included in a new setting “Choose your default Windows mode” as we reported last week. In another tweet, Albatross has stated that changes are showing up in Windows 10 19H1 Builds already but it’s not enabled yet.

“Could it finally be happening more than 3 years in? 19H1 contains a new Theme flag labeled “Windows Light” Getting to see things like the taskbar and flyouts in a light variant would be pretty cool,” he said in a tweet.

This is a small but important change as it could bring a much-needed visual overhaul to the Windows desktop. At the moment, it’s not known how the customization option will work and whether it will also change the look of other elements such as Action Center.

“Just like the “Choose your default app mode”, there will also be a “Choose your default Windows mode” option. This should change the color of elements like the taskbar and the tray flyouts, resulting in a light shell like the ones we’ve seen on concepts in the past years,” Albatross explains in another tweet.

Windows 10’s 2019 update is codenamed 19H1 and it’s supposed to arrive in April 2019 but the company hasn’t announced the public name or release date of Windows 10 19H1 update yet.

Microsoft testing blue light reduction feature for Windows 10

"Microsoft is slowly revealing new features in its next major update to Windows 10, and it appears blue light reduction feature might be a future addition. The software giant released a new build of Windows 10 testers yesterday with very few visible additions, but Windows enthusiasts have already started picking it apart for clues on new features. Twitter user "Core"has discovered references to a "BlueLightReduction" setting deep within the next major update to Windows 10 (codenamed Redstone 2). It appears to be a setting that will be toggled from the Action Center (notification center) in the operating system.

F.lux has been the most popular option for Windows users looking to reduce blue light in the evenings, but Microsoft's own native toggle will bring this feature to every Windows 10 user. Apple has also integrated a similar feature in iOS 9, but it hasn't announced any plans to bring blue light reduction to Mac OS yet. Microsoft only appears to be testing the feature right now, so there's no guarantee it will ship in the update due early next year. If Microsoft does implement it fully then it will presumably be available on the mobile version of Windows 10, too.

  3. Microsoft Selects Dolby Audio for Windows 10

it would've been great if microsoft added HEVC decoders, LAV filters along with other codecs with Windows 10, and developing WMP to be better than VLC, KMPlayer and such sorts of media players.

Nevertheless, this is good step for microsoft, by far.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
